I was sitting in the basement, with a dead body of a man who had stopped breathing. He could have been a man with no one, I could only 1see his face, staring at me as I walked past. I got up quickly and ran to him. He looked at me dead in the eyes and said: “You will kill 2him before they have you.” 3 I checked his pockets-I found an old knife, a torn up letter, and a flashlight. I had to escape the basement before they found me! 4I slowly walked to the top of the stairs. I started to stand up and the light from the kitchen flickered. I was softly 5ready to stab the man in the head and bring him down to his death. He was standing in the center of the room with a pistol. 6 The man has not seen me yet. I slowly tiptoe towards him, and I raise the knife. My heart is pounding! The kitchen light continues to 7 flicker. As I bring my arm down, the man turns towards me and the light bulb explodes into darkness. He pulls the trigger. 8I lay down on the floor of the kitchen, and start to sob. I start breathing, and then I start to panic. 9 I can breathe! He must have missed me. I leopard crawl across the kitchen floor. Another gunshot goes off. He does not know where I am. 10 I crawl into the entrance hall.I can see hear the man in the kitchen.I slowly get up, open the front door, and run to safety. 11I take a look outside and see a man and a woman, standing at the front of my house. I walk towards them. 12
