I had no choice but to get out. I turned around and saw my mom. She had a menacing look on her face, holding a small box with my dad's 1stuffed animals in it. 2 She put the box in front of me. Her menacing vise turned into a twisted forced smile. "Today is your birthday" she said 3 I feared this was one of her mad games. I hoped to be wrong but was not the case. "You have to choose one" she ordered 4. I just stared at her with evil eyes. 'No' I replied. I reached into my pocket to pull out the knife I kept in my 5backpack. 6 I opened it but couldn't find it. The backpack was full of more stuffed animals. She laughed loudly 7 "Are you looking for this?" She said showing me my knife in her hand. "CHOOSE!!! CHOOOOOSE!!!" she insisted dementially 8as I moved towards her. She kept on shouting at me, 'MOM!!! PLEASE!' I began shaking it until I felt a bruise. I looked 9down and saw a small razor blade cut into my fingers. I was laughing as I stubbed the knife into her throat. 'Why is this happening?!' I 10yelled and suddenly the smell of the blood filled my nostrils 11 I started to hiperventilate, anxiously. Tried to calm myself. Dad was about to return from hunting and i did not want to face his wrath 12 I did not look if she was still alive. I ran out of the house and straight to the woods hiding from moonlight 13. I saw mom disappearing behind the house. 14 I was pretty sure it was her, not my imagination. I kept running into the woods, out of the pathway. 15 I stumbled upon branches and brushes but never stopped, never looked back. Then I started hearing a voice deep in the woods. 16 The voice was singing "Haaaaaaaapyyyyyy biiiiiiiiirthdaaaaaaaay" in the creepiest way. Undeniably it was my dad's voice 17. When I turned around I saw my mom standing by the tree line with a crowbar. 18 She was still alive, how could that be possible. I stabbed her in the neck. but there she was with a grim smile 19 I kept running trying to escape from her while my dad's voice got into my mind like a chilling wind in a fragile skin 20crawling towards me. I ran as fast as I could they seemed to find me and I could hear them calling my name. 21 I was so scared I did not see a dip in the terrain. I started rolling downside violently and fell into a river. 22 Fortunately it wasn't very deep and I could stand on my feet with the water covering to my waist. 23The water started to come down on me and I was bleeding blood from my nose. The water was so cold that I just couldn't 24get a good grip on my legs anymore. I was trapped in the same water as my mother. I felt like I was going to die and I could feel the 25icy water running down my face. 26 I did not want to end like this. I already was escaping from them, awaking from my nightmare. I had to survive even at any cost. 27 So i moved my arms forward to the nearest shore with all my remaining strengths. And with my left hand i reached something. 28 I got a good hold and used the thing -a branch?- to climb to the shore. And then i could see it clearly. It was an arm. 29A leg. I was on the shore now. There was nothing there. I started to see a shadow. I couldn't make out the shape anymore. 30 "Come out!!!" I yelled. "I'm tired of both of you!" I said in anger as the shadow got nearer. 32 I was ready to end this once and for a Lo. Then something hit me in the back of my head and I passed out. 33I woke up in the hospital the next day. I was in pain and I thought I had been possessed. I could see my mother and 34father were still alive. 35 I couldn't understand what was happening. Mom reached to me in a soothing way. "Oh, you woke up" she said. "We were very preoccupied". 36 "You ran into the wood yesterday. You were allucinating and beheaving madly. Then you fell and got hit in the head" dad explained. 37 "The doctor says you'll be ok very fast. We're glad to see you well". I couldn't believe anything but i got sort of comforted. 38We sat in silence for a while. 'what is it?' I asked her. 'It all started a few weeks ago. It started out as a bad dream 39 you said you had" she explained. "One morning you woke up trembling in fear. You told us you had a nightmare in which we were... torturing you". She lowered her head and i could glimpse a tear running down on her cheek. 41 "Then you started having that dream frequently" dad continued in a very serious tone. "And finally one day you lost your head and attacked us with no reason. As if you couldn't tell reality from a nightmare". 42I was scared to death but i looked at him and said 'I saw it on the night of July 11th'. 43 "It was a weird tall man standing on the road to home. I was returning from the town". I started to remember very slowly but things started to have sense even if madly. "The tall man was smiling when i walked behind him. And then, he spoke to me". 44 I rememebered the tall man. "He told me that it was a dreamy night. That sometimes it is difficult to tell a dream from reality. And even difficult to distingish it from a nigtmare. Then, he started laughing. I turnd to face him, but he disappeared". 45 That could be it. Maybe that weird tall man cursed me or something. "You started beheaving madly sometimes from that day till now" dad said. "You have to find that man and confront him" dad concluded. He was right. 46'I saw what he looked like.' I replied. 'What is so bad that he died there?' 47 dad said. "What?" i said astonished "You know who it is? And you say he was dead?". My dad took a silence and nodded like he was about to say something unbelievably. "There is a story" he began "It is just a rumor or a legend about a man that got lost in this wood 48 and never returned". He continued "People assume he died there and that his ghost curses travellers with nightmares, very reallistic nightmares". Dad finished his story. It was like a folk tale. But when I got better and got out of the hospital 49 . I researched the story. There were a number of cases of other people turning mad and attacking their families. All of them ended badly. So i decided to step forward. I went to the woods to confront the tall man. 50He was still there but still had no eyes. I started walking towards him. I stopped and stared. I looked at him and said 'Why do you always stare at me?' He said 'I have been there for three years'. I was scared shitless. 51
